Sorry the area concerned is Newtown

  • ABC are to enforce parking restrictions from Nov 13 this will apply to parking bays on ABC land. The car park by the post office is excluded all other bays will require a parking permit for residents and their visitors. The scheme is to be run by CPM

I accept the issue of on kerb parking but your comments appeared to be discussing parking on the road in inappropriate positions causing access issues. I in no way support this but unfortunately some motorists, not all can’t or won’t think about the consequences of their actions and yes they should be penalised whether they are committing a civil…[Read more]

Not all motorists are thoughtless some are I admit but please don’t suggest all are. On a point of correction parking is not a criminal offence anymore it is civil offence which the council have to deal with hence the inaction outside the town centre.

    • This discussion is about on pavement parking and it is a criminal offence to deliberately drive onto a pavement to park. This was the law in Feb ,however it may have changed since but I am not aware that this is the case.

  1. Marsh link.
This is a lazy article, Putting wires up does nothing for speed. The track would need to be re ballasted throughout, realigned and doubled in places, and re-signalling would be required before faster running could take place. The business case to purchase a new fleet of trains for these few kilometres is risible. There is a risk to services to stations such as Ham Street and Appledore if this proposed new service were to be implemented, due to the need to keep the length of journey down.

  2. I would just like to say that the tribute “Over the Top” installed in the Memorial gardens is absolutely superb. It s well worth making a special trip just to see it.
